About Southwind Coaching

For most people, going to the beach in the summer conjures memories of warm south winds. However, when an occasional storm blows in, the wind can change from the north, the temperature drops and a chill sets in. In Acts 27:13, when the wind changed from a light south wind to a northeaster things got a little hairy for the sea goers. They ended up shipwrecked on the island of Malta.

South Wind Coaching

About the Name

This description of the south wind as a warm beach breeze is a nice one; however, in most of the scriptural citations, the south wind is experienced as a scorching drying wind – water anyone?

Being a windsurfer, I (John) prefer a good south wind. Windsurfing on the inland side of the outer banks, a south wind not only brings in the warm temperatures, it also fills the sound with water. Strong persistent winds can drive water in and out of bays. Tampa Bay being emptied during hurricane Ian was a result of strong winds blowing the water out of the bay.

We at SouthWind Coaching like to frame the coaching process as being warm enough not to be overwhelming, filling enough to sail without running aground, and stimulating enough to get on the water and sail in a desired direction.
